FAST BREAK: the merger of cultures

FAST BREAK: the merger of cultures

September 20, 2018

The way Melvin Melchor designed FAST BREAK gave to colour and material designers a lot of options to work with. Here is the result of this worldwide project.

Thinking in a basketball player, who was raised in the USA and lived for a while in Spain, this concept merges the hi-tops and basketball shoes and the low tops and runners, two different styles popular on each side of the globe.

The FAST BREAK Cement Grey is composed by soft split suede, nappa calf leather and polyester mesh with a hexagonal pattern, and was handcrafted by Portuguese shoemakers. With the mid top half splited in materials and colours, the sneaker has contrasting details, round elastic laces and hotstamp details.

The white sporty outsole was inspired by Casa Batllo, in Barcelona, and the bottom tells a comfort story.

Showing what's possible, the horrible pullovers, the failed samples... the things you normally don't get to see.
