Melvin Melchor: designing to help others

September 17, 2018

FAST BREAK took Melvin Melchor to the Top 8 of the 2017 PENSOLE World Sneaker Championship (WSC). Now, we materialised his concept.

Born and raised in Newport News, Melvin Melchor has always loved creating: sketching, building, problem solving, beatboxing and writing poetry. But sneakers and sports are his passion, leading him to pursue a career in the performance footwear industry.

The designer finished his bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Design last year, by the North Carolina State University. In 2015, he took some courses in the London College of Fashion Summer School, namely, in Footwear Design, Shoemaking and CAD with Rhino.

Melvin Melchor is Teaching Assistant of the 2018 Design Intensive, organised by the Pacific Northwest College of Art and PENSOLE Footwear Design Academy.
