We wanted to launch the best retro inspired low top sneaker in 2019.
And we teamed up with Obscure Sneakers for a collaboration / design contest to find the best designer to do that!
More than 100 contestants submitted their concepts. At the end there was one winner: Blake Scordino, with his TURBO!
For this sneaker he took inspiration from his hometown, Birmingham, Alabama: The "magic" city that earned it's name back in the 1880’s because of steel production.His relation to the sneaker is the city’s history and his passion for design.
Blake said: "Dream is inspired by my favorite personal colorway and where I feel like I find most of my answers...in my dreams. Sneakers have brought me so far in just a few years and I would've never thought to be here in this spot if you had asked me 3 years ago. My dream became a living thing and I pursued it giving it everything I have."
"This colorway is a true retro colorway from the 90’s as it mimics the signature pattern from the paper cups. I remember vividly attaching to this colorway as a child and it’s always worn on me since. To be able to showcase it on my first signature “dream” sneaker would also be my childhood dream."
